MAC is an awesome place to start a makeup collection. If you have a MAC store in the area, I would start there, but just a MAC counter would be fine as well. I'd pick out a couple of everyday favorite eye shadows that wear well together and a colored lipglass that goes with the eye shadows. Makeupalley.com is an awesome place to get recommendations on colors. You can post a pic of yourself and the ladies on the makeup board will respond with colors that suit your skin tone. Some of my favorite MAC eye colors are Honesty, Satin Taupe, Shroom, Nylon, Embark, Club, and Vex. My favorite lipglass is Viva Glam VI. If you wait until the holidays, MAC has awesome 6-color eye and lip palettes for around $36 each. It's an amazing way to explore colors for not too much money. I just try not to go over $100 a week. Buy your makeup when you need it and know you have a use for it instead of just buying it for the sake of having it.
Start off with getting a generic lipglass that works with just about anything, and expand on that collection when you feel you'd like a colour to go with a certain outfit, look, etc.
With your eyeshadows, start with getting a lid, crease and highlight colour that you can use everyday. Again, expand on it when you want it to go with a certain look.
I find that gradually letting the collection grow gives you time to let your knowledge grow too. You will have the time to get to know and understand your makeup.

i never leave a MAC store spending less than 30 dollars. if you want to spend less, i suggest buying an empty eyeshadow palette for $12 that holds 15 eyeshadows and then buying the pan size eyeshadows for $11, instead of buying your eyeshadows in a pot for $14.50. its saves tons of money since they both have the same amount of product. the money you save buying 3-4 pan eyeshadows will pay off the palette and you still have room for tons more. after you buy your palette, you could get 3 pan size shadows and a lipglass for around $50.
i think you should save up yer money for like an entire month and then get a makeover at the mac counter. they'll show you products that are well-suited for yer face. that way, you'll get some professional advice. but they will expect you to buy a few things with the makeover. so then since you saved up, you'll be able to buy quite a few things. and most of the things from mac (eyeshadows, concealers, blushes, lipglass, etc.) range around $20 - $25, give or take. so i'd say you'll need about $150.
eyeslipsface.com is just as good as MAC I think and so much cheaper.
A reasonable amount to spend probably depends on what you get paid and what else you need to use your money for.
I would try saving 10 dollars a day and at the end of the week buy two eyeshadows and one lip glass. I would spend about 35-50 dollars a week. Don't overdo it!
You could use that money for something else.... something more reasonable. But hey - its your money! How much you spend is depended on how much you get paid.
25-45$ a week. One to two products a week is plenty!

Beginner makeup collection?
im going shopping tomorrow and im going to start buying some makeup
im only wearing eyeshadows and lipglosses,
how many coloured eyeshadows would you say would be a good place to start?? and what are some other makeup products that i could add..Beginner makeup collection?
I would start with browns because they are pretty hard to mess up. When you get used to applying the eyeshadow, then you can go to any colors you want.
You may want to consider applying pwoder on your face before you put the eyeshadow on, just to kind of set it in so it will stay on longer.

I'll say 4 eye shadows, if you have blue eyes don't leave the store without a deep brown eye shadow...green eyes? PURPLE! Brown like mine? Deep blue, these colors according to your eye color will make them stand out. don't forget mascara, some eye liner and blush!

Sooo cheap thats all I can say and you can sorta tell =/ I have used natural collection mascara, eye shadow, powder, cover-up stick, lip liner, eye liner, tinted moisturiser and colour foundation all great, all though the cover-up stick looks cakey after a while and tinted moisturiser wears off easily, the mascara is like the best though! as for miss sporty I've only used the lipstick, energy foundation and so matte foundation. Starting makeup collection?
I am going to start collecting makeup. I want to stick with one company though. I either want to do MAC or NYX. People said that MAC brushes are good, but expensive. I went to the NYX website and their professional brushes were $112 for 18. Which deal is better???? Should I get NYX brushes and MAC makeup??? Building my makeup collection?
i am trying to build a well rounded makeup collection, i am a cosmetology student right now and when i shop for makeup i feel like i buy eyeshadow colors i already have or colors i never use. what are some good basic colors that i should make sure i have? what are your favorites?

I dabble in makeup as well as a hair stylist and the best thing I can recommend is go for the multi-tasking crushed pigment minerals because you can use them as ANYTHING .. they can be mixed they can be used wet dry with different bases to create anything you might need.. so versatile.
I think you definitely need a variety of your warm neutral earth tone colors Think all the colors of the land and sky .
Think about what sort of makeup you are mostly going to be doing and start there..
Pinkish colors are a must.. Blacks and silvers and grays ... some that in the gold family to highlight with ....Wines and plum colors.
Then you can get some more funky colors to play around with if you like such as some bright greens, pinks, orange, purple yellow and blue.
On some things a good brush really makes a difference.. I got all of my brushes at a hair show (you said you were a cosmetology student get yourself to a hair show and takes money ... lots of great deals that is where i bought my mineral makeup i was talking about and got a super deal on it) But the company i got all mine from have a website www.choicebrush.com little more expensive than what i paid for but they are nice brushes

Has anyone tried the Bare Minerals collection of makeup? If so how did it work for you?
I've been using it for 5 years now. And no it isn't perfect-but what makeup is? The reason I like it so much is that as I've gotten older my face needs to breathe more-at 43 I'm blessed to have reasonably good skin. I also like the fact that I never look made up-I'm not as worried about looking perfect-just pretty and fresh. Yes it is expensive-but compare it liquid foundations that you might buy once every six weeks or so at say 6-12 bucks a pop-if you wear makeup every day that gets expensive. Full size BE mineral makeup should last you about 6-9 months, or longer. For $35 on QVC-which has a 30 day money back guarantee if you don't love it, you get a full sized foundation and one of the best brushes you'll ever use. After that it's $25 for just the foundation.
They have kits that also come with brushes-again seems expensive but these minerals will last forever-even the blush lasts me over a year. And the brushes are the best. I bought the mineral foundation and mineral veil a few days ago, and so far I like them. True, the coverage is not very heavy, but I prefer that. I use a Cover Girl eye makeup brush with the foundation to conceal my dark circles and broken capillaries--this seems to work very well, and the brush is much cheaper than the one BM tries to push with its line. The reason I switched from tinted moisturizer to mineral foundation is that I can carry this stuff on board a plane, since it is not a liquid or gel. I suspect business will boom even more for mineral foundation in this respect...at least until they ban powders or any carry-ons at all.Has anyone tried the Bare Minerals collection of makeup? Yes and it's great stuff but you have to mix the powders to get a perfect match, which is why the basic kit is a few different shades of the same thing. It's an investment but the stuff lasts forever.
I LOVE IT. i have botchy skin because of old minor acne scars and bare minerals makes my skin look pretty flawless although i do agree that the coverage is not at all what they make it look like on tv or in the instruciton video. but don't fret. i found that putting a light lotion then applying the power with the baby kabuki brush while the lotion is still damp, gives me a great look. i even bought that ';nearly naked'; touch pad make up foundation by Almay (i think) it's oil free and gives you no coverage, but its kind of sticky before it dries, so i use that sometimes too. bonus is that with the B.M., if you apply it right, which isn't hard to do, u won't ever get a make-up line on your jaw. you must get the mineral veil for ontop of your foundation powder. it really completes the look.
i am going to try the eye shadow that they make, i heard it's great but again, with the powder, you have to build your desired coverage for color. their blush is fabulous. they have a really nice bronzer as well as peachy color blush which is supposed to be super hot this season.

Good choice on the eyeshadows BTW. The Lustre Drops are absolutely amazing. They're really pigmented and you can mix them with your face lotion to get an all over glow, or just use them on your cheeks or as a highlight. Sun Rush would be good on the high planes of the face, while Pink Rebel would be more for the apples of the cheeks. It offers very sheer but build-able color and it looks so incredible on the face, especially the shadows. All my clients have been very pleased with it so far and this new collection will provide great products for bridal makeup.

I think it would be better to start with drugstore (revlon, covergirl, maybelline, loreal) brand makeup first and then build your makeup one by one. Ok so here's my recommendation base on my experience.
mascara: Covergirl lash blast water-proof.
eyeliner: Revlon colorstay eyeliner (one of the best I've tried)
eyeshadows: revlon 12 hour colorstay quads, loreal's hip duo eyeshadows, coastal scents 88 shimmer/matte palettes (you can only get this online coastalscents.com) and nyx eyeshadows (here are some basic colors you can start with http://www.makeupgeek.com/articles-reviews/10-nyx-eyeshadows-to-start-your-collection/
eye primer: an eye primer keep your eyeshadows in place and makes it lastt much longer. A cheaper one would be Loreal de-crease but it just doesn't work on some people. A higher-end ones would be urban decay primer potion and too faced shadow insurance which you can get at sephora. They are verrryyyy good, trust me.
Lipstick: rimmel's lipsticks!
Concealer: MAC's studio finish concealer!
Foundation: Sorry but I never use foundation because I never really need it so I don't know which one's good :(

I think it would be better to start with drugstore (revlon, covergirl, maybelline, loreal) brand makeup first and then build your makeup one by one. Ok so here's my recommendation base on my experience.
mascara: Covergirl lash blast water-proof.
eyeliner: Revlon colorstay eyeliner (one of the best I've tried)
eyeshadows: revlon 12 hour colorstay quads, loreal's hip duo eyeshadows, coastal scents 88 shimmer/matte palettes (you can only get this online coastalscents.com) and nyx eyeshadows (here are some basic colors you can start with http://www.makeupgeek.com/articles-reviews/10-nyx-eyeshadows-to-start-your-collection/
eye primer: an eye primer keep your eyeshadows in place and makes it lastt much longer. A cheaper one would be Loreal de-crease but it just doesn't work on some people. A higher-end ones would be urban decay primer potion and too faced shadow insurance which you can get at sephora. They are verrryyyy good, trust me.
Lipstick: rimmel's lipsticks!
Concealer: MAC's studio finish concealer!
Foundation: Sorry but I never use foundation because I never really need it so I don't know which one's good :(

well saving is always hard. i try to save half of my weeks income or more. its a great way to save. Austral is and Rommel are really good brands. The Austral is compact powder is really really good and cheap, its light, spreads on even and there is a range of really natural colours.Rimmel powder, concealer and liquid are really good. the powder is extra light and is used ontop of a liquid foundation.
the basics for makeup are - foundation, concealert, and mascara maxfactor have really good mascara

A very very fine silver dust that I put on my cheeks, lightly on my chin and nose and T-zone. Adds a really good shimmer and 'dew drop' effect. I use, again, gloMinerals 24k Dust in Silver, applied with a good texture brush.
A light pink, blue, or green eyeshadow or eye creme depending on my color scheme that day. Everydayminerals.com has great colors and prices.
Sheer lipstick that adds a little color but mostly moisture. gloMinerals lip stick in aruba.

I heard lots about this brand ,but where can I find it . I checked BOOTS %26amp; SUPERDRUG and there is no thing about it .Where can I find MAC makeup collection?
MAC is a high end makeup brand not a drug store brand so you'll have to find a MAC Cosmetics store or a MAC counter in a department store like Macy's or Nordstrom. By the way I see alot of people suggesting Sephora, they don't carry MAC either. Im guessing if you went to look for it in boots/superdrug then you are expecting it to be similar prices to maybelline and rimmel, so just to let you know in advance it is expensive compared to them brands, it as about the same price as clinique. before the whole VAT reduction

I am looking for ways to expand my makeup collection.?
I am desperately looking to expand my makeup collection. My only problem right now is that makeup is so expensive these days. Does anybody have any recommendations on either products or online stores that have items at a cheap price? I'm not asking for much, just somewhere I can find a variety of makeup products at a decent price? There's not really a specific brand that I'm looking for, I would prefer the site to have a way that I can browse different brands though, and maybe get a feel for each one.I am looking for ways to expand my makeup collection.?
If you have a Big Lots near you try checking the makeup they sell. You can find all kinds of name brands and it changes a lot. I have bought Revlon, Loreal, E.L.F, from Big Lots.
Look for an expiration date on the box just to be sure it's okay.
I also check The Dollar Tree store they sell Aziva (sp) and off brand names.

There is a wealth of information online about where to find cheap cosmetics. Have you tried searching on Ebay? You can find a lot of cosmetics at lower than half price there, you just have to be sure that they are all brand new, and not defective. Buy from a reputable seller.
I would also highly recommend trying out Strawberry Net. There are some great deals there on a variety of different brand named cosmetics. I've shopped there before and found great deals on Dior makeup. They also have a ton of skin care lines on the site that you can look at, as well as perfumes for men and women.

If you don't want to wear foundation, but just need a bit of coverage, get a good concealer. Laura Mercier and Scott Barnes have good concealers.
Good eye shadows and blushes: Nars - get a light ivory matte base, and a smoky charcoal or chocolate brown for contour.
Eye pencils - Lancome is great. Go for dark midnight blue or charcoal - a soft black.

clinique and MACs lipsticks are really amazing and pigmented.they last about all day. MAC blush is soo many pretty colors same with their lipglosses. other brands are NAKED, trueblood,and avon has wonderful lipsticks

sephora has this palete thats 22$ its cool but they are little but it has a bunch of colors and you can try those out before getting a better qualitly eyeshadow.
