If an astronaut on the moon dropped a hammer, would there be sound? E?

Yes, but the only medium for its transmission is the moon. Another astronaut with his ear to the ground would hear the sound waves from the impact. If an astronaut on the moon dropped a hammer, would there be sound? E?
Only if he was 'indoors'. On the surface, no air means no vibration transmission. If an astronaut on the moon dropped a hammer, would there be sound? E?
There would be no sound. Sound waves on earth are carried through the air. Because the moon has no atmoshpere, the sound waves have no mean to travel.

Now, if the astronaut dropped the hammer on his foot....
I guess there wouldn't be sound unless the astronaut could hear through the helmet. There is no sound unless there is someone to hear it. Sound is vibration in your ear. So if the vibration cant get to any ones ear there is no sound.
